At 00Z Oakland was not showing sufficient gradients of T or DP for ducting. San Diego was WOW, however at 950 mb.
Gradients look sufficient at Hilo 795mb and Lihue 810 mb.
So, will it last? TV WX people said colder condx tomorrow.

OAKland 00Z sounding indicates base of 610m,
Hilo 00Z sounding indicates base of 1843m, where base is defined as the lowest height of the greatest gradient of Temperature and Dew Point.
Interestingly, Lihue sounding does not indicate sufficient gradients for ducting. Neither does San Diego. Vandenberg is iffy.

I am hearing something on 432 beacon freq.??? like a beacon keyer that is not keeying properly. I hear nothing on 144 ?? strange. Can someone confirm if the 432 beacon is keeying properly.

Finally, at 2150Z, the 144 MHz beacon was in 459 and is still in at 2225Z. NIL on 222 (perhaps I was listening at wrong time) or 432 however. Location CM87ul at 1740' where the fog finally cleared (it was very drizzly last night), and the temperature is 61 deg F.
Beacon now S8 and climbing in CM87wb...Santa Cruz Mountains.

22:10p PST - K6QXY, Robert, all I see is fog since it rolled back in about 6:00pm tonight and the temp dropped 10 degrees. It's interesting to note how much stronger you hear Pauls beacons at your 2000ft elevation even though you're noticeably further inland than me at my 225ft elevation buried here in the city. Can you take a picture of the "visible duct" and email it. I'd like to see what it looks like.

ALL beacons except 222 are very strong. 1296 beacon peaks at 599 at times. Still very hot & dry at 2000ft. I can see a marine layer off the coast. Duct is optically visible. @ 0420Z
18:10 PST - First I think the time stamp on this logging program seems to be off 1-2 hours?
Second, it appears the beacon signals are all fading into the sunset right now. Signals for 144, 432 and 1296 started getting weaker around 15:45p PST and now I am only hearing 144 and 432 intermittently at best.
From my two days of actually being around and able to listen intermittently when I could hear the beacons (7/20 & today) I noticed that signals peaked both days between around 12:00n - 15:30p PST and signals disappeared almost like clockwork at shortly after 6:00p PST. I'll have to check later tonight to hear if they come back in.

The KH6HME 144.17 beacon is 569 here at 2212Z, but NIL on 432. Location 1740' in CM87ul (I think) where it is 101 deg F.
13:50 PST - CM87 San Franciso - The 144 beacon has been running a consistent 54-59 since about 12:00n PST. The 432 beacon has been a consistent 51-54 with peaks to 57. Upper 60's here in SF, clear skies but I can see the fog sitting at the coast line.
Am beginning to hear the 1296 beacon in/out as well with a huge S0 signal! My first time ever to hear it at my whopping 200ft in a valley elevation 2 miles from the coast!! Those at higher elevation must be hearing it very well though from my past observations.

Here in CM87 (SF) the 432 Beacon has been in/out for up to 10 minutes at a time since 08:00a PST, running between S0-S1. The 144 beacon started coming in/out in a similar fashion and signal strength at about 10:00am.

First, thanks to WSWSS member, Dan, K6NKC for pointing me to this log page.
Next, all of Paul's signals dissappeared from SF city proper after 18:00PST last night shortly after I spoke with him on 2mtrs. I kept a little signal log yesterday when ever I happened to me in my home office and noted something I noticed the June 25/26 weekend opening. Seems that the 432 sigs and 144 sig strengths are somewhat inversely related. When 432 sig strength is climbing the 144 sig strength is weakening, and of course visa-versa. Now of course this makes sense as we have all studied this stuff but one rarely gets to observe this in real time and on multiple occasions at these frequencies.
My location is about 2 miles from the ocean and 225ft elevation. I have never heard the 50mhz or 1296 beacon. However, Jack, WB6EBR who is across the bay in Berkeley at 1000ft elevation could hear the 1296 beacon yesterday.

Well, some nice ham on WSWSS pointed me to this site. I've been listening to Pauls 144 and 432 beacons consistently in my home office all morning and recently left him a voice mail of such. 144 sigs ranging between s1/2 up to s8/9. 432 sigs ranging between s0 to s5. Mind you I have a very modest vhf/uhf setup on my end. I haven't heard anything on 1296. If anybody is interested in a short audio/video clip of his sigs as received on this end let me know and I can email one or both bands to you. (Amazing what a simple digital camera can do these days!)
Afternoon update. Sigs went as high as S8/9 on both 144 and 432 around 1:00p- PST. Then off to a meeting and now back at 5:00p. Can hear Paul weakly talking to S. CA & XE stations. 432 Beacon is stronger right now than his 2 mtr sig.
Nice warm (70+) day in SF with clear skys.

Up to 579 on Yagi, 539 on loop.
Virtually no QSB.
Did not listen on the higher bands.
Beam heading was direct with a sharp peak.
Temp was 29C inland, 15C at /P QTH. Appearance of the beacon seemed to coincide with clouding/fogging over.
Called CQ on 144.200 CW and SSB, no QSO to KH6.
Scanned for KH6 repeaters but nothing heard.

at 3200' is 78F and 60F on ground. Light/high fog
At0600Z it is 65 deg F at 1740' in CM87. Fog below, clouds above, no KH6HME/B on 144.17 here.
There is a camera on Fremont peak located in CM96.
The camera is looking SW towards Salinas. WA6BAY-3 WX
station is on Mt. Toro, about 15 miles SE of Fremont

Reception: I hrd KH6HME/2m bcn ~1200Z 28JUN on I-405 near Getty Museum Southward to I-10. Copied weakly approx 5 minutes, then faded out.

KLAX Wx @ 1350Z: 18000ft scattered clouds, vis 6 statute miles with haze, temp 19, dewpoint 17. Baro: 29.94" Hg, wind 240 deg/5kt.
Before takeoff to the West, I could see the inversion. I performed the takeoff so my Temperature data for the first few thousand feet was missed: turning, climbing, & raising flaps took most of my attention!

Both the 2m and 70 cm beacons are still in - 2m peaked so far at about S6, at which time I could kerchunk the 146.82 repeater on Mauna Loa. 70 cm has been pretty weak through this morning - S1 max. Nil 1296, although some interesting radar stuff that I don't usually hear.

At 0057Z, KH6HME/B 144.17 599, 432.07 459, in CM87 at 1740' where it is 68deg F and we are fogged in (visibility > 300' though). By the way, antennas are fixed on Hawaii, 2m 16 elements in front of a 14' reflector, on 432 a 10' dish.
Hearing 144.70 Mhz beacon 589, solid. Hearing 432.078 beacon in and out, peaking 529. 86 degrees, 29% humidity, 100' elevation - CM98jk, 15 miles S.E. of downtown Sacramento. First time I've heard anything from KH6HME this year.

The last reference to the 1296 beacon freq was from K6QXY on 25 June who reported 1296.250. In past years had seen 1296.300 - .400 reported, with freq drifting with the site's temperature. I'm assuming K6QXY's freq is correct since it's most recent.
Put up the 1296 M2 Yagi this morning, but nothing heard on either 1296 freq.

At 0400Z apx had Q5 both ways with KH6HME on 144170,820 from BK29go to CM89ob a distance of 2362.46 miles using 50W to 9 el. Now 0455Z Paul is still Q5 and improving
Last heard the 70 cm beacon at 0400Z. Nil now on 70 cm and 2 meters. Beacon / voice was in and out of the noise at about 10 minute intervals today.
Temp here was 63 deg / 77 % humidity, but very hot inland.
